THE STORY OF FRINGE BENEFITS
Some people think Adelaide is boring. Some people think that nothing ever happens here. Fringe Benefits say they’re wrong! We live in a vibrant, amazing city full of creative people who are doing things differently – and Fringe Benefits is going to tell everyone about it.
Fringe Benefits is a program, working alongside Adelaide’s art scene, that helps give its members more bang for their buck by offering discounted tickets and special deals to arts and events in SA. It’s for fun-loving, free spirited18-30 year-olds who love to go out and have a good time. And guess what? It doesn’t cost a cent to sign up.
Fringe Benefits is a non-profit organisation that grew out of the well-loved Club 26 program, previously run by the State Theatre Company of South Australia. Since it entered the Adelaide scene in 2006 with a humble 1,000 members, Fringe Benefits has worked with over 170 organisations including the Adelaide Fringe, Future Music Festival, Adelaide Festival of Arts, State Theatre Company and Adelaide Cabaret Festival… selling over 20,000 discounted tickets to nearly 12,000 members.
Fringe Benefits loves to party – so much that it has co-produced events such as SHAM! with Onion Magazine, Sneaker Party with Onitsuka, FB Turns 3 at The Promethean and the annual SPIN DJ COMP with Adelaide Fringe, Nova 91.9, Onion Magazine and Sugar nightclub. Now in its fourth year, SPIN DJ COMP has helped unearth Adelaide talents such as Track Team (2007), Carter Bros (2008) and DJ Well Being (2009) by giving them the opportunity to play at the Adelaide Fringe Opening Night Concerts.
Fringe Benefits is auspiced by the Adelaide Fringe in partnership with Arts SA and the Australia Council for the Arts. In 2007 Fringe Benefits won the Ruby Award for Arts Enterprise.
