For the last couple of years Arcade lane has opened it's gates during the Adelaide Fringe for a month of good times. Fourwords hosted two excessively fun parties in the pop-up venue last year and just couldn't say no to doing it again in 2012!
This year Fourwords will be showcasing four awesome bands, plenty of party DJs, delicious catering and live artists going nuts up and down the atmospheric alleyway. There will also be film, projection art and photography to feast your eyes on.

Meaghan Coles, emerging oil painter combines traditional techniques with experimental enamel, pen and resin to create a surface intrigued by layers. Taking beauty symbols from popular imagery she re-creates these seductive, eye-catching beauties into unique works of art. The viewer is asked how these faces function when they are taken out of the environment of mass-production and transferred into a fine art context.

Exhibition open most days till 18th March, 2012.
Come and check out the Renée O'Connell Exhibition at The Reading Room. Little google eyed Sushi was spawned from my imagination late 2007 whilst experimenting with spay paints & stencils. He had a very small & short debut throughout the streets of Adelaide but shortly after a few gigs at the old Zhivago's & Urban cow studio his cheeky little face shied away from the public eye..
Recently I decided to challenge myself by taking on this project at the Reading room so I dusted off ye old sewing machine & transcended his tiny little being onto crafts & bags.. So come forth & see his metamorphosis as a crafty felty little guy. Hopefully he can warm the cockles of your hearts as he has mine.
The use of these hand-built cameras re-introduces risk and the accident to photography. The artist gives over control of the picture: its framing, focus and lighting are as much a result of chance as the artist’s command of technology or process. Indeed, instead of control and mastery, there is magic and mystery. The photographic darkroom was always a place of magic and mystery, where alchemy and science turned silver halides into pictures.
In their individual approach, 11 talented local artists portray this curious creature for you to study and marvel at. A colourful and diverse exhibition in a range of mediums.
